Family Therapy


Family therapy involves two or more family members and a therapist coming together to discuss issues related to family functioning, stability, or satisfaction. Common issues addressed in family counseling include:

Marriage Counseling


Marriage counseling involves a married couple and a therapist joining together to process issues related to marital satisfaction and relational wounds. Common issues addressed in marriage counseling are:


  • Excessive disagreement and disconnection

  • Communication and conflict resolution

  • Parenting styles

  • Infidelity and affairs

  • Trust issues and emotional intimacy

  • Loss of joy

  • A history of spousal abuse

  • Sexual dysfunction and infertility

  • Addiction and compulsive behaviors

Premarital Therapy


Heritage Counseling Center offers premarital counseling and assessment using a research-driven instrument called PREPARE-ENRICH. The assessment is completed by the couple prior to the second session. Issues addressed in premarital counseling include:


  • Couple compatibility

  • Marital expectations

  • Intimacy and communication

  • Conflict resolution styles

  • Financial management


Premarital counseling involves a minimum of 3 sessions at a rate of $320 due at the first session, and follow-up session at a rate of $85. The PREPARE-ENRICH assessment tool used in therapy is included. 


Premarital counseling typically consists of four to six 45-minute sessions. Insurnace reimbursement is not available for these services due to the already reduced rate.



Interpersonal Violence


The therapists at Heritage Counseling Center offer therapy for couples and families affected by physical, emotional, sexual and psychological interpersonal violence. We work with you and your family to:


  • Process and heal trauma

  • identify and make use of resources

  • Develop safety plans

  • Make referrals to obtain shelter and/or protection orders

Divorce Recovery


The staff at Heritage Counseling Center can help you process the complex emotions that accompany divorce. Common issues in divorce recovery include:


  • Processing emotions and trust concerns

  • Developing constructive coping mechanisms

  • Building and utilizing a support network

  • Setting boundaries

  • Addressing financial stress



Blended Families & Adoption


Heritage Counseling Center also offers professional counseling services to children, parents, and stepparents adjusting to blended family life. Counseling for blended families addresses issues such as:


  • Adjustment-related stress and depression

  • Adoption issues (including cross-cultural adoption)

  • Co-parenting

  • Communiction and conflict resolution
